Ky Co Beach is easily one of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches located just outside the small city of Quy Nhon. Moreover, this paradise-like location will make your jaw drop and forget that you were even in Vietnam. It’s like stepping foot on one of Australia’s stunning beaches!
This hidden paradise is still reasonably off the radar with very few tourists sprinkling through to visit. For the most part, tourists are wrapped up in visiting Northern Vietnam’s famous Ha Long Bay. However, I really don’t think this special location should be missed!
Upon arrival, you’ll notice that you may be one of the only foreign visitors. Typically, only locals and Vietnamese know about this breathtaking spot! If that isn’t enough to make you want to visit, I don’t know what will!
Is Ky Co Beach Worth Visiting?
Not many travellers tend to visit Quy Nhon, but I believe it is absolutely worth a visit. Besides, the main reason I stopped by this city for a few days was to visit the stunning Ky Co Beach.
I hadn’t heard much about it online, and not many people have trekked through the area. But, once I saw the photos, I knew I had to go.
I don’t regret it at all! It was easily the most beautiful beach I saw during my time in Vietnam and it was an absolute treat.
Moreover, the fact that it’s still under the radar from popular tourist pages makes it the ultimate getaway spot for an afternoon! Being one of the few tourists to experience this kind of beauty in Vietnam makes it an ultra-special location!
The soft golden sand offers the most striking contrast with the gorgeous turquoise water. Not to mention, the water is very clean and clear and makes for a perfect and refreshing swim.
While you’re in the water, be sure to take a look back at the mountains and marvel at the fascinating wind turbines scattered around the mountain. They are a pretty fascinating creation, and later, you can get up close to one!

How to Get to Ky Co Beach
Ky Co Beach is relatively easy to reach and there are a few ways that you can get to this location. Firstly, you can travel there by scooter, private taxi or by tour group. The drive is roughly 40 minutes from the centre of Quy Nhon.
Scooter
Obviously, the cheapest option is to take your own scooter and take on the road trip yourself. I highly recommend making use of Google Maps to make this journey. Besides, it was very easy to reach!
You need to drive north of Quy Nhon and drive across one of Vietnam’s longest bridges (Thi Nai Bridge) that takes you over to the Phuong Mai Peninsula. From there, you will drive further north before turning right to reach an admission gate.
At the gate, you will be told you need to pay 100,000 VND per person to cover the cost of visiting the beach and the shuttle bus ticket.
After paying for the ticket, drive a little further in and you will reach a small building housing a number of shuttle buses. Head over to the counter to show your ticket and then wait for a shuttle bus to take you down the mountain.
No tourists are allowed to ride a motorbike down the mountain as it is simply too steep and you will not be able to get the bike back up. So, be prepared to foot the small bill to visit this idyllic location.
Private Taxi
If you would prefer to take on this trip a little more privately, you can most definitely hire a Grab Taxi. This will be one of the more expensive options for reaching the beach, but it will also be the easiest and most relaxing.
Prices are bound to fluctuate depending on the current demand of drivers. However, you may be able to snap up a good deal!

Tour Group
There are a number of tour groups that you could participate in to reach Ky Co Beach. Moreover, there are options for a simple day tour, or you can plan an overnight tour to enjoy this location to the fullest.
Weigh up your options and decide accordingly.
Things to Do at Ky Co Beach
If you arrive at the right time, you might be able to score a spot beneath one of the beach umbrellas and a couple of banana lounges. Moreover, the shade is absolutely necessary with that blaring sun shining all day. These are free to use and are a part of the admission price you pay for the beach.
I would advise arriving at this beach early to get most of the day relaxing on the soft sand and swimming in the crystal clear water. Additionally, there are a couple of caves to explore on the left and right sides of the beach. Feel free to do some wandering along the boardwalks to go inside the caves.
I highly recommend hiring some snorkelling gear or bringing some of your own to check out the underwater world. Besides, the water visibility is usually fantastic, making it the perfect activity to enjoy.
Furthermore, fill your belly at one of the local restaurants. There are a couple of nice spots on offer to grab some lunch. And, this is the perfect time to enjoy some local cuisine. Or, if you’re not feeling hungry, grab some icy cold drinks after a refreshing swim.
Finally, spend a bunch of time floating and swimming in the water. This water is so clear, and refreshing and you won’t find much rubbish! It has to be one of Vietnam’s cleanest beaches.
Tip: On your way out, be sure to check out the wind turbines. You can get right up close to them and it’s pretty fascinating to experience these incredible creations right up close. Besides, this would be a great activity if you have children exploring with you.
Best Time of Year to Visit
The weather within the Quy Nhon area is always subject to change throughout the year, but for the most part, the best time of year to visit is from March to September.
This is usually when the weather is the most consistent with dry and warm days. However, be prepared for random storms to sweep through as the weather can change in an instant!
I visited this beach in June and the weather was absolutely perfect! However, it was extremely warm, so don’t forget various types of sun protection and lots of water to hydrate yourself!
Where to Stay
If you want a few days of serenity and out of the city of Quy Nhon, you can stay in a beach house just north of Ky Co Beach.
I recommend checking out La Beach House for a beautiful place to relax for a few nights. Moreover, this is another beachfront location situated in a stunning spot.

Ky Co Beach is easily one of the best beaches in Vietnam. And, judging by the pictures, I’m sure you can understand why!
The water is crystal clear, the sand along the shore is soft and clean, and the ambience of the environment is ultra-relaxing. It truly feels like a hidden beach behind the mountains!
