Anglesea Beachfront Family Caravan Park is one of the best Great Ocean Road campsites for families or couples and is roughly a 1.5-hour drive from Melbourne. There is a section of the campground that is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed at the campground from 1st February – 15th December, excluding long weekends.

The campground has absolute beach and river frontage and is within walking distance (1.0 km) to the local Anglesea shops. You will find everything from restaurants, cafes, surf shops, bakeries, and fish and chip shops there.

If camping isn’t your thing, there are 8 different styles of cabins, including 1 which is dog-friendly.

A fantastic spot for a weekend away, Skenes Creek Caravan Park is the perfect retreat to enjoy some time by the beach. The campground has easy access to the Great Otways National Park, which will lead you to many walking trails and waterfalls to explore.

There isn’t a general store within the town, but you can grab an ice cream from the front office or take a drive into Apollo Bay (8 min). Pets are welcome at the campground and will love exploring Skenes creek and the beach.

Marengo Holiday Park

Take in the fantastic sounds and views of the ocean right from your campsite or cabin at Marengo Holiday Park. The unpowered sites have the best views of the ocean. Enjoy a short drive into Apollo Bay (3.0km) for any necessities or a bite to eat.

The south end of the holiday park has access to the Great Ocean Walk, and Marker Beacon Lookout is only 0.3km along the track. You can also enjoy a morning walk along the rocks to explore the rock pools and see what the tide brought in overnight.
