Best Time of Year to Visit Bright

In all honesty, there is no ‘best time’ of the year as Bright offers plenty of activities year-round. Furthermore, the summer is perfect for families on school holidays as the river is great fun for floating. Autumn brings a picturesque warm glow to all the trees in the region. Winter is the perfect chance for lovers of the snow season. And finally, Spring is a beautiful time of year when the warmth begins to fill the air.

Therefore, you can’t go wrong with visiting this regional town at any time of the year; Simply choose what activities pique your interest the most and then go by season.

Top 10 Things to Do in Bright

  1. Bright Splash Park

Firstly, one of the best activities in Bright is to visit the local splash park. This small waterpark is free for everyone and is an entertaining addition to hanging out by the river. Moreover, I would recommend this spot to families to enjoy on a warm summer afternoon.

There is some space surrounding the waterpark to spread out a towel or picnic blanket and enjoy lunch or snacks while watching children run around and play with the water features.

Additionally, I’d recommend bringing some water inflatables or pool tubes to enjoy a float down the river. You’ll notice plenty of people getting in on the fun all day long.

  1. Sled Dog Rides

Next up, this one’s for the winter adventurers. Head out into the cold for a day like no other and enjoy a sled dog ride amongst the most beautiful snow setting. A pack of huskies will guide you through the mountains as you speed through the mountain on this adrenaline-fuelled activity.

Furthermore, this is the perfect activity for families or couples as the journey gets your heart racing. Finally, prices start from $220 but are ultimately worth the unique experience.

  1. Mount Beauty Gorge Walk

The Mount Beauty Gorge Walk is easily one of the best things to do in Bright. However, it requires a little bit of travelling to reach the area, but the adventure is more than worth the effort; It’s one of my all-time favourite hiking trails.

To reach this breathtaking location, you will need to park your vehicle at the local mountain bike park and then head towards the track to begin the journey.

I would advise packing extremely minimally if anything at all for this walk as you will need to travel upstream to reach the gorge. Therefore, you will start in knee-deep water with the need to swim later on.

I couldn’t believe the array of food choices, top quality service and inclusive menus within this alluring little town. And, to be frank, it’s difficult to say exactly which restaurant or cafe was my favourite.

There is something for everyone to enjoy within this town. Therefore, do some research before visiting to plan the best dining experience. You can be sure to find plant-based cafes, Japanese takeaway, pizzerias, dessert stores, and so much more. You will be spoilt for choice!

  1. Rollasons Falls

Rollasons falls are easily one of the most spectacular waterfalls I’ve ever visited. And, it’s become one of my top favourites in Victoria. Firstly, you will need to travel along a 1km rocky trail to reach the waterfall. However, be sure to pack some bathers for a dip in the icy-cold and refreshing water!

  1. Canyon Walk

Grab yourself a morning coffee and set out on a stroll along the Canyon walking trail. The easy loop walk will take you on a short adventure alongside the stunning Overs River, with plenty of sights to enjoy.

Furthermore, find a small opening near the river bank to take a dip on a warm day. Finally, this beautiful trail is dog-friendly and is a great way to get some exercise into your day.

  1. Huggin’s Lookout

Huggin’s Lookout is easily Brights’ best viewpoint. Head to the top of this viewpoint for magnificent views over Bright and surrounding valleys. I believe this would be a beautiful location to enjoy either sunrise or sunset.

Finally, this is one of the best things to do in Bright as it’s a family-friendly and free activity for everyone to enjoy.

Have a swing at the Bright Golf Club on a beautiful afternoon. Moreover, this idyllic location is the perfect spot to enjoy some time outside with friends while playing a game of golf.

  1. Ladies Bath Falls

Another fantastic waterfall location that you won’t want to miss is the Ladies Bath Falls. Firstly, this location is easy to reach, and the trail is scenic and beautiful. Besides, if the weather is nice, you can enjoy a dip in this captivating waterfall.

Furthermore, continue along the track to explore Lower and Upper Eurobin Falls. Keep in mind the trail gets quite steep, so watch your footing at all times. I’d recommend spending at least 1-2 hours enjoying this idyllic location.

  1. Howitt Park

This one is for the kids. Howitt Park is another fantastic activity and thing to do while in Bright. There is plenty of stunning lawn space to sprawl out while watching the kids play on the wooden playground.

Moreover, the setting is simply beautiful, and there is always the option for a wander down alongside the river. I would recommend grabbing some takeaway dinner to enjoy it in this blissful little location.

In conclusion, Bright has become one of my favourite holiday destinations, and I can’t wait to head back there to do further exploring some time in the near future. Besides, this lovely little country town is jam-packed with things to do.

Out of all of the activities listed above, the two that truly blew me away was Rollasons Falls and the Mount Beauty Gorge Walk. I’ve never experienced raw and natural beauty quite like that. So, don’t miss your chance to explore these two hidden gems.
